Rethinking Supply chain & logistics- Ready for 2022

“Looking at the world through a sustainability lens not only helps us Future-Proof our supply chain, but it also fuels innovation and drives brand growth”, rightly quoted by Paul Polman.

The best-proven methodologies & strategies of yesterday show little to no relevance in the era of the new normal. When we talk about ‘smart transportation,’ it is more than moving cargo from A to B. Digitisation within transport and logistics means seamless service to our customers, for bringing both visibilities in the supply chain, and driving a more efficient business.

At the 30th Inflection FMCG Supply Chain & Logistics Web Conference & Awards, the moderator of the panel discussion Ankur Chaturvedi from Emami Ltd. led an engaging session discussing how supply chain logistics have played a vital role during the era of pandemic and new normal. He added, “Inventory in a balance sheet shall be treated as an asset, rather than viewing it with liability lens”.

Manoj Kothari from Godrej Consumer Products put forth his views on logistics by his rightly quoted words, “Logistics is an overall part of the supply chain strategy, and supply chain is a part of the overall organization strategy”. The agility of logistics depends on the manufacturing sector, he added. During the covid times, their team focused on risk mitigation and revisiting the footprints. The one strategy that helped to deliver at a faster pace was shifting from mega plants to satellite plants.

Raman Kaul from TVSV-SCS discussed the challenges regarding the issues of storage and transportation at times of Covid. Falling under the category of essential services not only enabled them to get passes from the government & other authorities, which helped their team to manage their supplies with less hindrance. But also adopted a new approach of distribution where they shifted from a traditional transaction-based model to a fixed baker model.

Atul Holkar from VeProkure shared his views on the key trends that would change the future of supply chains. He discussed that if there are no possible failures in the supply chain model, the business will itself start witnessing agility & reach heights

Dr. Ghanshyam Singh from Cosmo Films discussed the challenges faced by their supply chain team in the past 7-8 months. The pandemic not only made them increase their pace but also made them come up with a whole set of innovative strategies. Earlier, keeping a lot of inventories was considered to be a burden and a challenge, too.

The web conference ended with India’s most prestigious awards ceremony where the FMCG Supply Chain & Logistics top Industry leaders of India got awarded.
